The only waterside wine bar and bottle shop on the Sonoma Coast, Gourmet au Bay, like the wine it features, is a treat. In the shop, visitors will find a good selection of small production, award winning wines, as well as cheese plates and gifts.
Gourmet au Bay is famous for its “Wine Surfing” — three 2 ounce pours served up on a surfboard. The choices vary by day, but there are always three whites and three reds to choose from.
Gourmet au Bay has a bit of a secret — its fabulous deck. “You have to come into the shop to see we have a great deck out back that’s right over the water,” says proprietor Sissy Blanchard. “People are always surprised to see it when they come in. Also, the selection of fantastic wines they’ve never even heard of!”
Sissy and her husband Bob are usually on hand to offer tasting tips and to suggest just the right bottle for any occasion. The Blanchards moved across the country to Bodega Bay when they bought the business is 2008.
They say they quickly grew to love the area, citing the access to fresh, locally grown food and world-class wines as their top reasons.

Tip: Gourmet au Bay has complimentary corkage agreements set up with a lot of the local restaurants. Buy a bottle for dinner (or lunch) at Gourmet au Bay and you won’t pay a corkage fee at the restaurant.
